Bomb threat closes MVSU campus for days

Posted: Updated:

Mississippi Valley State University has closed its campus and moved a weekend basketball all because of a bomb threat called in Wednesday.

The bomb threat included the Mississippi Valley State University campus in Itta Bena and the Leflore County Civic Center. That's where the Delta Devils and Devilettes play their home games.

Saturday's scheduled game against Alcorn State has been moved to the Alcorn campus in Lorman. Game times are set for 2 p.m. for the women's game and 4 p.m. for the men's game.

Monday's game between MVSU and Southern University has also been postponed until Feb. 27 at 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. at the Leflore County Civic Center.

Campus police said all buildings and the civic center will be swept. And they strongly recommended that students leave the campus this weekend.

Classes will resume on Tuesday, January 21, following the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday Monday.
