Pearl man pleads guilty to stealing government funds

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Jason Zebert of Pearl pled guilty in federal court Wednesday to theft of government funds.

The 44-year-old  Zebert, who worked as an attorney and fiduciary representing veterans, admitted stealing funds which had been entrusted to him by the Department of Veterans Affairs to spend solely on behalf of the veterans he represented.

Zebert will be sentenced on April 25, 2014 and faces a maximum penalty of ten years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
