SOUTHAVEN, MS -

(WMC-TV) - Police have arrested a suspect in connection to the brutal attack on an elderly woman in Southaven.

Kwame Becton, 23, has been arrested by the Forrest Park Police Department in Illinois. He will be taken to the Cook County Illinois Jail where he will await extradition. He was taken into custody without incident.

Southaven police say he is a suspect in the robbing and injuring of Georgia McKee.

Police found McKee's silver 2003 Chevrolet Impala, which Becton allegedly stole, in Chicago last Friday. It has since been returned to Southaven.

This suspect is from the same neighborhood as McKee. She was beaten and left for dead around New Year's Day in her home. Click here to read more about it.

"I'm shocked and surprised. I didn't think anybody in that neighborhood that knew her would ever do anything to her like that," said the victim's friend Rawley Cain. "He sure made it tough for Ms. Georgia, and I just think that's unmerciful what he did."

McKee told Cain she woke up the day before New Year's and had a black eye but had no memory of what happened.

McKee is being cared for by family members. She is expected to recover.

"You don't see anyone over here, so it's kind of messed up 'cause you're afraid to come out of your house at night time not knowing what's going on out here," said McKee's neighbor Joseph Elliot.
