Comedy Central films episode of 'Drunk History' in Montgomery

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

The City of Montgomery is full of history. It played a key role in the Civil War, having been the first capital of the Confederate States of America in the 1860s. A century later it took a prominent role in the Civil Rights movement for racial equality.

So if you would enjoy watching a serious piece on historic Montgomery, you need not look to a new episode of Comedy Central's show Drunk History. Crews filmed an episode in Alabama's capital city Saturday night at the AviatorBAR on Commerce Street.

Drunk History is a weekly, half-hour series that relies on A-list talent to reenact historical moments after drunk storytellers explain the event. The drunken person's voice is then dubbed over the actors in the final film. The show is based on a popular web series on "Funny or Die" that was picked up by the comedy network.

Host Derek Waters, along with a changing cast of actors and comedians, travels across the United States presenting true historical tails from each city or town's past, but with a twist.

For example: When visiting Washington, D.C. the show's producers decided to reenact Elvis' December 21, 1970 visit with President Richard Nixon at the White House. But what happens when Jack Black is Elvis and the storyteller is drunk?

Or on a visit to Atlanta to show how Coca Cola was created, but with Bill Hader and Jenny Slate doing the teaching?
