JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The suspect from an armed robbery late Monday night at Liberty Gas on Old Canton Road has been identified.

Witnesses tell us the suspect was armed with two handguns.

We are told that during the robbery there was an explosion which caused the store to catch on fire.

Chief Fire Investigator Travis says, "That's part of our investigation. Were not making the accusation that someone intentionally set this fire, but were trying to rule out all options whether or not it was intentionally set, or an accidental fire that subsequently occurred."

During a follow up investigation, detectives learned that an individual showed up at a local hospital suffering from serious burns.

Twenty-nine-year-old Marcus Carr is the suspect identified in this incident.

The suspect was taken into custody on Friday and has been charged with Attempted Armed Robbery of a Business and Aggravated Assault.

The store clerk was not shot but suffered minor burns and is being treated at Central Mississippi Medical Center.

His friends say he was burned on his legs, arms and face.
