JACKSON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) -

A St. Martin man will spend the next 25 years behind bars after pleading guilty to six counts of Sexual Battery and three counts of Touching of a Child for Lustful Purposes.

Nathan Louis Lee, 50, was accused of abusing his girlfriend's 14-year-old daughter on several occasions between August 2010 and June 2011.

"The victim should be commended for her courage in coming forward to report the abuse carried out by this defendant," District Attorney Tony Lawrence said after the sentencing. "This defendant took advantage of the victim's innocence, and every time she tried to stop it, he would abuse her all the more. I hope that this 25 year, day for day sentence serves as notice that those who abuse children in order to satisfy their own lustful desires will answer for their actions. Children are some of the most vulnerable members of our society and I am proud of the team in my office and law enforcement who helped protect this child, but also ensured that justice was served today."

Judge Dale Harkey sentenced Lee to a total of 40 years in custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections; 25 years will be served day for day. The remaining 15 years will be served under post-release supervision.

Lee was also sentenced to 15 years for the three counts of Touching of a Child for Lustful Purposes. That sentence will run concurrent with the six counts of Sexual Battery.

Lee was given a fine of $10,000, assessed all costs of court, and a $1000 mandatory assessment to the Mississippi Children's Trust Fund. He is to have no contact with the victim and must register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
