Tyson Foods issues recall after salmonella contamination

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

Tyson Foods is issuing a recall of thousands of pounds of chicken over fears of salmonella contamination.

The company says it is recalling 34-thousands pounds of the chicken products that may have been linked to an outbreak of illness at a Tennessee prison.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture days 7 inmates have reportedly gotten sick, two of them hospitalized, after consuming chicken products.

Tyson says the recalled chicken was produced from October 11th and sold only to institutional customers. It was not sold in grocery stores.
