One Gulfport man remains behind bars after being charged with aggravated assault with a knife.

According to Gulfport Police Chief Leonard Papania, officers responded to an assault complaint at Woodchase Apartments on Lindh Road on Tuesday. Authorities said William Louvon Baker, 58, allegedly stabbed someone multiple times in the side and back during an argument.

Police said Baker fled the scene, but was soon after located and arrested. The victim was taken to the hospital to be treated for injuries.

Baker is currently being held at the Harrison County Adult Detention Facility on a $100,000 bond.
