New Year's resolutions halted by cold weather

OCEAN SPRINGS, MS (WLOX) -

The Biloxi/Ocean Springs Bridge is usually the perfect place to get some exercise in, but frigid temperatures have kept people away.

The normally busy workout spot has seen just a hand full of people the past few days. Freezing temperatures has even the most avid runners rethinking outdoor exercise.

Just next to the bridge is the Ocean Springs Yacht Club, where WLOX found Mark Carter who usually runs the bridge himself, but says it's too cold for him.

"I admire those who are running," said Carter.

"In fact, yesterday when I was heading to work I saw somebody out there and I thought way to go. I wish I had the fortitude that you do."

Carter made a New Year's resolution to work out more, but he's waiting until the weather gets about 10 degrees warmer before getting back on the bridge. For those who have been braving the cold for their daily exercise, at least they haven't had to deal with the usual traffic.
