Brandon man faces felony charge for "Moonshine" operation

BRANDON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

There has been a lot of cooking on the patio of 207 Lakebend Circle in Brandon, but apparently it's not what the neighbors thought it was.

Authorities say what appeared to be grilling, turned out to be "moonshine making."
Thirty-eight-year-old Carey Klotz, who lives at the townhouse, is now being held at the Rankin County jail.

He has been charged with felony possession of illegal distillery and misdemeanor possession of moonshine and bonded liquor.

His bond for the misdemeanor is 500 dollars. No bond has been set for the felony charge.

Agents tell us they confiscated 15 mason jars of moonshine, 23 bottles of bonded whiskey, a mash, two small cookers, and a 55-gallon barrel found in the closet.

ABC agents were assisted by Brandon Police Department and ATF agents.

Police says a concerned citizen discovered the still and called Brandon Police.

Klotz' first court appearance is set in Brandon City Court for January 22
