Bitter cold blankets South Mississippi

Posted: Updated:
BILOXI, MS (WLOX) -

Sunday was balmy.  Jackets were unnecessary.  A day later, the air is frigid.  So, you better grab your winter coats, your gloves, and your hats.

Temperatures are in the 20s this morning.  But, the wind chill makes it feel like it's in the teens.  And a hard freeze is expected Tuesday morning, with temperatures barely making it to 20 degrees.

Cold weather shelters will open again tonight, so people can escape the chill.

Because of the cold weather gripping much of the country, United Airlines flights to and from Houston were canceled both last night, and this morning.  If you're booked on United, be sure to check with the airline to see if you're flight will take off.
