Record low temperatures invade Atlanta

Posted: Updated:

Southeast U.S. Temps | North Georgia Temps | Metro Atlanta Temps

Atlanta breaks a 44 year old record low on Tuesday morning, as it dipped down to 6 degrees. Wind chill values made it feel much worse, down around 10 to 15 below zero.

Single-digit Temperatures

Athens, Columbus and Macon all joined the list of record lows Tuesday. North of Atlanta, the typical mountain chill was felt, as several cities dipped below zero. Blairsville and Blue Ridge dropped to one below and two below, respectively.

A rapid warm up takes place by Friday, as tropical southwest winds return that warmer Gulf of Mexico air. Look for highs over the weekend to hold in the low-to-mid 60s.
