BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - Biloxi police are in the middle of their first murder investigation of 2014. However, they think the crime may have occurred in 2013 and the victim could have been dead for several days. Officers are asking for the public's help in locating a person of interest they believe can give them some answers.
Biloxi police officers worked into the night on Thursday gathering evidence and looking for clues as to who murdered 63 year old Carmen Edwards.
"A little before two o'clock we received a call from a person told us they believe someone was injured at Maison D'Orleans apartments," said Chief John Miller. "We responded over and found a deceased person."
Police have named Michael Floyd Wilson as a person of interest. Wilson goes by the nickname Pretty Boy Floyd.
"There is a person we would like to talk it's Michael Floyd Wilson. We want to talk to Mr. Wilson. We think he can probably help us and lead us on the right direction," said Chief Miller.
Police said the man found murdered in this apartment lived here but they aren't saying much else because they say they don't want to compromise the investigation.
"Well there's a few reason why we have to be very careful," said Chief Miller. "We don't want to do anything that would compromise our investigation. It will be a little clearer later on but we are investigating it as a homicide, yes."
Biloxi police hope their first murder investigation of 2014 ends with an arrest soon.
Chief Miller said, "We hate to see these types of things happen any time of the year and we are going to do our best to solve it and confident that we will and bring the perpetrator to justice."
