Jackson County has plenty of pets that need good homes

JACKSON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - Jackson County's animal shelter has more than 120 homeless loveable animals ready to be adopted.  And its outgoing director hopes to find homes for those animals before he retires.

The director is Bill Richmond.  He says the adoption rate has spiked for Christmas.  But, he also admits there a lot of strays and other unwanted animals coming to the shelter.  Richmond says it's important for people to help find homes for the cats and dogs, before they're euthanized.

The shelter charges $50 to adopt a pet.  For more information please call the Jackson County Animal Shelter at 497-6350.
