Two story home damaged after morning fire

Posted: Updated:
BILOXI, MS (WLOX) -

Around 1:45 a.m. Biloxi firefighters responded to a call about a two-story house fire. The incident happened at 121 Hopkins Blvd. just north of the beach behind the Four Points By Sheraton hotel.

Heavy smoke was shooting out from the top story of the home when responders arrived. Firefighters were able to put the fire out.

Officials say the resident of the home was already out when they arrived and there were no injuries. House was not a total loss, but the second floor was severely damaged. Officials say they believe the fire started in the second floor bedroom and the next door neighbor is the one who got in the home and woke up the man inside.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
