MS Gaming Commission sets special meeting on Gulfport project

GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) -

The on again, off again casino near Gulfport's Jones Park may be on again. The Mississippi Gaming Commission just announced it will hold a special meeting next Monday. And the only topic on its agenda is Rotate Black's Hemingway Resort and Casino project.

Rotate Black is the group proposing a $112 million casino resort on private property adjacent to Jones Park. That project got sidetracked earlier this year when funding became an issue.

Developers have until New Year's Eve to prove they have funding and get the gaming commission's approval to proceed with the project. Otherwise, gaming regulations will change, and they'll have to add a lot more to their development before it can be built.

The special meeting for Rotate Black is at 1:30 next Monday inside Gulfport City Hall.
