HUGHES, AR -

(WMC-TV) - Four people were injured when a possible tornado tore through Hughes in St. Francis County, Arkansas Saturday afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service, three adults and a child were injured when winds ripped through three mobile homes. The adults were taken to The MED and the child was taken to Le Bonheur Children's Hospital.

Deputies say the winds and rains arrived around dinnertime, and left behind a trail of damage.

"Lots of people got hurt, a lot of good property destroyed," said Kuhron Meurrier, who lives in Hughes.

"One man trying to get out of his car, blew him across the field a pretty good ways," said another resident, Gary Davis.

A mother and her four kids were in a brick house along Highway 38 when the storm hit. The roof was blown off of the house, but nobody inside was hurt.

"A lot to be thankful for...these material things, you can replace them, but you can't bring life back," said Carlton Spears.

"People of Hughes will respond to this because there's a lot of good people around here," Meurrier added.

Longtime residents of Hughes are counting their blessings as they assess the damage.

"I'm really thankful. That's why I tell the good Lord, 'Thank you for another day,'" said Spears.
