(RNN) - A new magazine article is reporting that popular radio show host Kidd Kraddick battled lymphoma starting in 2009, but kept it a secret from friends, family and fans.

The article titled Kidd Kraddick's Big Secret will be featured January issue of D Magazine.

David "Kidd" Kraddick only told his friend Toby Wilson about his diagnosis as he went through chemotherapy treatment. Kraddick only told his daughter after the cancer was in remission.

However, Kraddick died from blockages in his heart.

After bouncing around a number of radio stations, Kidd Kraddick made it big in on the Dallas top-40 station KEGL. In 1992, he was released from his contract when the radio station changed format. But he was hired to do a morning show - Kidd Kraddick in the Morning, which nationally syndicated.

Kraddick died in New Orleans on July 27, 2013 at age 53 while attending a golf tournament that was a fundraiser for his charity Kidd's Kids.
