Security guard cleared in American Legion murder

VICKSBURG, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Vicksburg police have dropped a second-degree murder charge against a security guard accused in the Dec. 7 shooting death of Michael Robinson during a party at the local American Legion post.

Police Walter Armstrong tells the Vicksburg Post that tests on the bullet removed from Robinson's body indicated it did not come from the semi-automatic handgun Michael Thomas was carrying.

Thomas is the owner of T & T Security.

Armstrong says Thomas has been released from jail where he had been held on $125,000 bond.

Robinson was shot during a fight at a party at the American Legion Post 3 hall. Two others were wounded.

Thomas was working as a security guard at the party and was licensed to carry a concealed weapon.
