JPS bus drivers back on the job

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

More than 100 Jackson Public School bus drivers are back on the job after an eight-day strike. Drivers decided to end the strike after their demands were not met. They requested higher wages and better work conditions.

Superintendent Dr. Cedrick Gray held a news conference Monday, thanking drivers and parents for their patience. He says an internal audit will be done on operations including the transportation department.

"These actions will help ensure, help us ensure and help verify many of the issues that were brought to my attention and of course as needed to provide mechanisms for taking corrective action," said Dr. Gray.
