Dealer gives away six cars

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

'Tis the season of giving and that spirit rolled into the showroom at a metro area auto dealership Thursday night. It was Wilson Auto Group's fourth annual holiday automobile giveaway.

Transportation is something most of us take for granted, but it's not easy for some people. This event is call "Help on Wheels" and this year, Doug Wilson called on partners from the Neighborhood Christian Center, Mission Mississippi and Mission First to select six families to receive the vehicles.

They are not new, but they are in good condition and the lucky recipients were presented the keys at a reception at the Wilson Kia dealership on Lakeland Drive.

James E. Turner of the Neighborhood Christian Center said, "It is a very, definitely, I would say, blessing, because the individual, this  year, is a vet and he's had some hard times."

Owner Doug Wilson said, "Decided we'd give away working cars to working people that's what we originally called it and then this being our fourth year start calling it  help on wheels. We're just trying to give somebody that works, a hand up."

Wilson thanked WLBT for making the event successful. There was also food and entertainment at the holiday celebration.
