Lake Charles man indicted on attempted rape charge

A 21-year-old Lake Charles man was indicted on charges of attempted aggravated rape and illegal use of weapons on Thursday by a Calcasieu Parish Grand Jury.

Michael Anthony Dejean II has been accused of using a firearm in an attempted rape on Nov. 14.

Dejean, who was arrested by the Lake Charles Police Department, remains in the Calcasieu Correctional Center on a $950,000 bond.

Other indictments

Also on Thursday, a 48-year-old Ville Platte man was indicted on charges of aggravated rape and sexual battery.

David Wayne Sims was arrested in August. The alleged incidents happened in January 2009 and September 2012, when the victims were both under 12 years old.

Sims remains in the CCC on a $252,500 bond.
