BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - Baseball fans in Huntsville and on the Mississippi Gulf Coast have been buzzing following a twitter report that said the owner of the Huntsville Stars has agreed to relocate to Biloxi.
So far it's only speculation... but negotiations should continue at the Major League Baseball Winter Meetings in Orlando on Wednesday.
Our sources say Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant and Tim Bennett met with various baseball officials in Orlando in an effort to negotiate a contract for a team.
The Mayor of Huntsville told WAFF-TV in Huntsville that the Stars have a contract that runs through the 2015 season and he expects the team to honor the contract.
If a deal is secured, the Stars wouldn't move to Biloxi until 2015.
