Man working security arrested, charged with murder in American Legion shooting

VICKSBURG, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Officials have now charged a man with murder in the Saturday night shooting at the Vicksburg American Legion.

46-year 0ld Michael James Thomas has been charged with 2nd Degree Murder for the shooting death of Michael Robinson.

Thomas is employed by T&T Security and was providing security at the American Legion when the shooting occurred.

Authorities believe he fired at least one shot from his service weapon during the fight between Davis, Reed, and Robinson. 

Investigators believe the shot fired from Thomas' weapon struck and killed Mr. Robinson. 

According to Vicksburg Police, 27-year-old Michael "Tiger" Robinson was fatally shot just before midnight Saturday.

The American Legion Post is about one block from the Vicksburg Police Department. 

Robinson was found dead inside the facility, shot by a large caliber weapon.

Two other men were shot.

24-year-old Wade Carter was shot in the lower extremities.  

34-year-old Charles Brooks, was reportedly shot in the back. 

A family member confirmed Robinson and Carter were cousins. 

On Sunday, Police arrested 36-year-old Morris Anthony Davis and 36-year-old David Matthew Reed. They were each charged with two counts aggravated assault.
