Bus offers trip to Memphis or New Orleans at a price you won't believe

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Megabus.com, the popular city-to-city, express bus company with fares from $1, on Friday announced expansion to Mississippi with services to/from Jackson. Service begins December 17 and tickets can be purchased at www.megabus.com today.

Starting December 17, Jackson residents will be able to travel express to Memphis and New Orleans for as low as $1. The entrance into Mississippi marks the 33rd U.S. state in which megabus.com operates.

There will be three daily routes from the arrival/departure location at 213 N. Lamar St., near the intersection of N. Lamar St. and E. Amite St., with nearby access to the Jatran public transit system. Limited parking spaces are available for short- and long-term parking at the nearby Central Parking Systems parking lot.

"Megabus.com has rapidly become the travel option of choice for more than 30 million people and today we're excited to bring our unique travel option to Jackson," said Mike Alvich, VP of Marketing and Public Relations for megabus.com/Coach USA. "As Americans continue to look for ways to stretch their dollar, we look forward to providing safe, convenient and affordable travel to the thousands of Jackson-area residents."

"Jackson customers can travel to these three metropolitan cities in approximately the same amount of time it would take to drive themselves, without the stress of being behind the wheel," added Alvich. "Customers can recline, rest and even sleep, or, if they prefer, keep themselves connected and entertained with free Wi-Fi and power outlets in every seat on our state-of-the-art double-decker buses."

"We welcome megabus.com to Jackson," said Wanda Collier-Wilson, President and CEO of Jackson Convention & Visitors Bureau.  "There is tremendous demand for affordable travel options, and that's exactly what megabus.com provides. We look forward to welcoming more visitors through the arrival/departure location at 213 N. Lamar St."

Customers are encouraged to book early to secure the best rates.

"The $1 fares go quickly, but there are many other great fares available if you book early," said Alvich. "Traveling on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays is another great way Jackson customers and all travelers can secure the best megabus.com fares."

Megabus.com, a subsidiary of Coach USA, launched in April 2006 and is one of the largest city-to-city express bus service providers in North America.
