BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - Somebody has apparently waved the white flag. Consequently, that gas war in west Biloxi that had cars lining up for fuel appears to be over.
Prices at pumps on Debuys Road and Eisenhower Drive were back up to $2.79 a gallon for regular unleaded. That's still significantly lower than at stations across much of South Mississippi. But, it's a six cent jump from yesterday when people paid just $2.73 a gallon.
Despite the increase, drivers still lined up for the lowest gas prices they've seen in quite some time.
According to aaa.com, South Mississippi gas prices average $3.11 a gallon right now. But, when a new convenience store opened by Edgewater Mall, it slashed its gas prices by almost 40 cents. And three neighboring gas stations matched that price. Suddenly, a gas war had been launched.
