NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A firefighter was taken to the hospital after getting hurt while putting out a fire in south Nashville Tuesday night.

The firefighter was hospitalized as a precaution after falling down and hurting his shoulder near the fire at a home on the 5000 block of Marc Drive.

Officials say two dogs and three cats died in the fire.

Heavy flames could be seen shooting up from the roof. Crews were able to put the fire out quickly, but most of the home was destroyed.

There is no word on the cause of the fire at this time.
