Jackson airport will hold mock fire drill

RANKIN COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The Jackson Medgar Wiley Evers International Airport will conduct a mandatory emergency mock fire drill Tuesday, December 3, from 8:00pm until 11:00pm.

The drill will take place on the west Passenger Concourse. Jackson Municipal Airport Authority personnel, the Mississippi Air National Guard 172nd Airlift Wing Aircraft Rescue, the Federal Aviation Administration, the Transportation Security Administration and community emergency responders will participate.

Commercial airports are required to meet safety guidelines set by the FAA. Airport operators must be prepared to respond to emergencies involving passengers, aircraft, terminal buildings, fuel systems, severe weather and other hazards.

Emergency personnel will respond to a mock emergency situation with volunteers serving as passengers.

This is only a drill and is intended for training purposes in the event of an actual emergency.
