Vanderbilt travels to Texas for Big 12/SEC Challenge game

(RNN) - The Big 12/SEC Challenge continues when Vanderbilt travels to take on the Texas Longhorns .

Texas (6-1) is undefeated in five home games this year. Its only loss came to BY 86-82 in the CBE Hall of Fame Classic in Kansas City. The Longhorns are coming off a surprisingly close 72-69 win over UT-Arlington that saw them have to stage a manic second-half comeback.

The Commodores are 4-2. They lost to Providence last week in the Paradise Jam in the U.S. Virgin Islands and 85-77 in OT to Butler on the road on Nov. 19.

Vandy has beaten Loyola-Marymount and DePaul along the way.

Eric McClellan is averaging 16.8 points per game to lead Vanderbilt's excellent scoring offense this year. Ron Odom scores 13.7 ppg for the Commodores, who are shooting 49 percent and scoring 72.5 points per game.

The Longhorns have five players who score more than 9.1 points per game and have been dominant in all statistical categories this season.
