WAYNE COUNTY, NC (WECT) – A man from Shallotte was killed Sunday afternoon in Wayne County when his truck went off a bridge over another highway, according to WITN.

First Sgt. Jerry Burton with Highway Patrol told the media outlet Craig Moore, 30, died in the accident.

Burton said Moore was driving on US-117 when he ran off the road and slammed through the bridge guardrail onto Highway 55 below.

The wreck is under investigation, but officials say early indications show Moore may have fallen asleep.

According to WITN, no other vehicles were involved in the accident.
