Woman dies Sunday after being struck by car in Springfield

WILBRAHAM, MA (WSHM) -

One woman died Sunday after being struck by a car in Springfield.

Springfield police have identified the victim as 57-year-old Janet E. Carpluk.

Police said Carpluk was crossing the street at 1515 Allen St. near the Family Medical Care Center and was not in a crosswalk when she was struck by the car that was traveling west bound.

According to police, Carpluk was brought to Baystate Medical Center and pronounced dead at the emergency room.

Police are not releasing the name of the driver but confirmed she was a 39-year-old woman. Police said she stopped at the scene and was very cooperative with the officers.

The accident is still under investigation.

Police said no citations or charges have been issued at this time.
