Woman rescued from Connecticut River on Saturday night

HOLYOKE, MA (WSHM) -

Shortly before 11 p.m. on Saturday night, a woman was rescued from the Connecticut River.

The Holyoke Police Department told CBS 3 that a 28-year-old city resident fell into the river just after 10:30 p.m.  Her brother called police to alert them of the situation.

As of 12:30 a.m. on Sunday, police are still unsure of the reason why the victim fell into the river.

The department said Officer Brendan Boyle went into the river to rescue the woman.  Both Boyle and the victim were picked up by a South Hadley Fire Department boat and taken to Holyoke Medical Center's emergency room.

They are both in good condition.
