Man busted for smoking on KCI-bound flight

KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -

A man on a United Airlines flight bound for Kansas City International Airport was questioned by federal authorities after he was caught smoking on the plane.

Joe McBride, a spokesman for KCI, said the man was on board flight No. 728 from Chicago O'Hare International to KCI.

A misunderstanding led to KCTV5 incorrectly reporting that the flight was bound for Wichita and diverted to KCI. The intended destination was KCI.

Federal agents questioned the man, who was removed from the flight. The flight landed about 6 p.m. at KCI.

The man was caught in the bathroom, McBride said.
