BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) - The Brunswick County Sheriff's Office has ruled a fire Saturday as accidental.

They say the fire was the result of children playing in brush, which caught on fire.

The Southport Fire Department responded to a call on Alamance Drive off Long Beach Rd. around 12:30 p.m. Saturday.

When fire crews arrived, the blaze had already been extinguished by a neighbor who called 911.

Authorities say there was minimal damage to the side of the house.

According to Capt. Todd Coring with the Southport Fire Department, the fire appeared to be suspicious in nature.

The investigation was turned over to the Brunswick County Sheriff's Office which says no charges were filed.

There were no injuries and nobody was home at the time of the fire.
