Two sisters jailed after alleged grab and go robbery

OCEAN SPRINGS, MS (WLOX) -

An irate customer and her sister are in jail in connection with a grab and go type of robbery. Ocean Spring police said Whitney Lawanda Shelton, 19, of Oceans Springs went to All American Check Cashing to cash a money order on Friday.

Officers said Whitney Shelton became upset when the clerk told her the money order had to be applied to the outstanding balance she owed the company. Officers said that's when Whitney Shelton allegedly grabbed $580 from the cash register, ran out, and jumped into the passenger side of a gray Ford Taurus.

A short time later, Ocean Springs police later pulled over the Taurus. Whitney Shelton's sister Robin Tiara Shelton, 21, of Long Beach was driving. Whitney Shelton was arrested for robbery and is being held under a $15,000 bond. Her sister Robin Shelton is charged with accessory after the fact because officers said she allegedly tried to hide the money in the vehicle. Robin Shelton's bond is $10,000.
