LSU struggled through most of the second half, but in the end, true freshman backup quarterback Anthony Jennings found red shirt freshman wide receiver Travin Dural for a 49-yard touchdown with less than 2:00 in the game, as the Tigers came from behind win this year's "Battle for the Golden Boot" 31-27 over Arkansas.

Jennings replaced senior quarterback Zach Mettenberger in the 4th quarter after Mettenberger had to be helped off the field due to a left leg injury. Mettenberger was on crutches at the end of the game, but there was no word on the extent of his injury. Mettenberger completed 14 of 22 passes for 156 yards to become the third quarterback in LSU history to throw for 3,000 yards in a season.

In the first quarter, running back Terrence Magee scored both of LSU's touchdowns. He scored from 29 and 23 yards out. However, the Razorbacks answered each with one of their own to keep the game tied at 14-14.

LSU's Jalen Mills made a diving interception in the end zone with a few minutes left in the first half, but Arkansas quickly regained the ball after Mettenberger fumbled on a sack. The Razorbacks kicked a field goal just before halftime to take the lead for the first time in the game, 17-14.

Mettenberger's second turnover of the game was an interception early in the second half and led to an Arkansas field goal, which extended the Razorbacks' lead to 20-14.

Jeremy Hill put the Tigers back in the lead 21-20 with a 52-yard touchdown run in the third quarter.

Arkansas scored a touchdown to regain the lead 27-21 with :50 left in the 3rd quarter.

Mettenberger's injury came in the fourth quarter while throwing to Jarvis Landry, who caught the pass over a Razorback player's helmet to keep it from possibly being intercepted. Mettenberger was hit low and taken to the sidelines to be checked out.

Colby Delahoussaye kicked a 37-yard field goal to cut Arkansas' lead to 27-24.

With only 3:00 left in the game, Arkansas punted the ball all the way to the LSU 1-yard line. Jennings worked his way 99 yards down the field and got the Tigers the victory with the touchdown pass to Dural with 1:15 left in the game.

LSU's defense stepped up and held off Arkansas (3-9, 0-8) to secure the Tigers' claim on the Golden Boot for another year. Since the teams started playing for the 'Golden Boot' in 1996, LSU has won 12 out of 18 games.

This was the last home game for LSU (9-3, 5-3) this season. It is also scheduled to be the last game with the stadium at its current capacity. The south end zone expansion is supposed to be finished before next season.

The game was also LSU's Senior Day. Fourteen seniors were honored before the game.

LSU's group of seniors include: quarterback Zach Mettenberger, linebacker Lamin Barrow, safety Craig Loston, fullback J.C. Copeland, running back Alfred Blue, wide receiver Kadron Boone, wide receiver James Wright, holder Seth Fruge, linebacker Tahj Jones, offensive lineman Josh Williford, linebacker Jarrett Hardnett, defensive tackle A'Trey-U Jones, running back Jarrett Fobbs and defensive back Dexter Alexander.
