Lines form as stores open on Thanksgiving

Posted: Updated:
JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Following a national trend, many stores in the Jackson area didn't wait until "Black Friday" to start their sales. They opened on Thanksgiving afternoon, and in some cases, they had a line of shoppers waiting to come inside.

Such was the case at Cowboy Maloney's Electric City on Interstate 55 in Jackson, which opened at 3:00 Thursday afternoon. Owner Con Maloney greeted the line of shoppers and ushered them inside for the early opportunity to take advantage of reduced prices.

Shoppers were also lined up at Best Buy in Flowood, which was scheduled to open at 6:00 Thursday evening.

Other Jackson-area stores opening on Thanksgiving include

  • Old Navy: 7 p.m. - 11:59 p.m.
