MOSS POINT, MS (WLOX) -

A $100,000 bond has been set for the Moss Point man accused of killing his older brother. An initial appearance for Lovin Payton was held in Moss Point Tuesday. He's charged with manslaughter in the death of Jerry Payton.

Police say Lovin Payton arrived at his mother's house Sunday and began arguing with her. The mother reportedly called police and the suspect's older brother came out to protect her. Police say the suspect then punched his brother multiple times.

According to authorities, shortly after police broke up the fight, the victim collapsed and died.

Investigators believe Lovin Payton was under the influence of drugs and alcohol. His preliminary hearing will be held next Tuesday.
