No. 15 Florida dominates Jacksonville for 1st road win of season

Florida picked up its first road win of the season over the Jacksonville Dolphins on Monday. Florida picked up its first road win of the season over the Jacksonville Dolphins on Monday.

JACKSONVILLE, FL (RNN) - No. 15 Florida walked out of Veterans Memorial Arena Monday night with the team's first road win of the season, trouncing Jacksonville 86-60.

The Gators (5-1) dominated the Dolphins (2-4) for almost the entire game, leading by as much as 32 points. Jacksonville had a brief one-point lead in the first few minutes of the game before the Gators scored an unanswered 11 points.

Florida point guard Scottie Wilbekin saw action for the first time this season, leading the Gators with seven assists and three steals. He was suspended for the first five games and an exhibition game for an undisclosed violation of team rules.

The Gators scored 61 percent of their 13 3-pointers and almost 60 percent of their 52 field goals. Casey Prather led Florida with 27 points.

This was Florida's second road game of the season. They lost their first road game to then-No. 20 Wisconsin on Nov. 12.

Florida moves on to play archrival Florida State at home on Friday night.

    The Mississippi State Department of Health reports the second confirmed flu death for the 2017-2018 season.  The death happened in someone from central Mississippi and the victim was younger than 18.
