Picayune advances while St. Stanislaus and Vancleave fall to defeat

BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - Picayune head coach Dodd Lee has consistently led his Maroon Tide into the state playoffs.  On Friday night Picayune dominated Wayne County 31-14 in Waynesboro to advance to the 4A South State finals next Friday.  In 18 years as the Maroon Tide head coach, Lee's teams have cracked the state playoffs 15 times.  Picayune captured the 2011 State Championship.

Picayune travels to Laurel November 29 to decide which teams advances to the 5A State Championship game on December 7 in Jackson's Mississippi Veterans Memorial Stadium.   Laurel knocked out Brookhaven 29-14.

The Maroon Tide picked up win number 10 against 2 defeats.  The War Eagles fell to 10 and 2.

St. Stanislaus lost for the first time this season after ripping off 12 consecutive victories. Forrest County AHS quarterback Carter Hankins had his passing game in high gear and helped the Aggies take a 28-14 lead.

Rockachaws quarterback Tyler Allen and company go down quietly and would drop a 49-42 decision, ending the Rockachaws quest for the 4A State Championship.  Coach Gabe Fertitta and his coaching staff must be congratulated for leading the Rockachaws under the win column this season.  Remember in 2012, St. Stanisalus failed to win a football game going 0 and 9.

Forrest County AHS will battle Quitman in the 4A South State Championship game next Friday.  Quitman ended the Vancleave Bulldogs season at 7 and 6, posting a 49-17 victory Friday night in Jackson County. Vancleave head coach Jim Bloomfield guided his Bulldogs into the 3rd round of the state playoffs, the best-ever in school history.
