NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Police say a husband who was defending his wife from an alleged stalker was shot overnight.

The woman told police a co-worker who'd been stalking her showed up at her place on the 1500 block of Hickory Highlands Drive around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday.

She claims the man, Jarvis Fason, called her from the parking lot.

Police say the woman's husband went outside to confront Fason and noticed he had a gun.

At some point, investigators say the husband hit the 26-year-old with a motorcycle helmet.

Fason jumped in his car and allegedly opened fire as he was driving, hitting several cars and the husband in the foot.

Police caught up with Fason at Baptist Hospital, where he was arrested and charged with aggravated assault.
