Coach Dodd Lee has built a winning reputation and his 20-13 Maroon Tide are no exception, 9 wins in 11 games.
Lee said,"This team has gotten better as the year went along." He added,"They looked at each game as a new chapter and you start over every week and we're only as good as the last play of the last practice or the last play of the last game."@
In last Friday's 48-14 playoff victory over West Jones, Picayune had three players surpass 100 yards rushing, Preston Dedeaux, Deandre Anderson and quarterback Boderick Scott who added183 yards through the air and two touchdowns. Scott has passed for more than a thousand yards this season.
Dedeaux has been off and running all season long to the tune of 16-hundred-29 yards, with an 8 yards per carry average.
"We're going to pound," stated Dedeaux. "We're going to pound, we're going to grind and that's coach Lee. We're going to go to the end, four quarters. We're going to go in zero seconds."
Since the weather has turned cooler, Coach Lee has a few of his offensive players going both ways. Dedeaux has been excelling at linebacker and 6-foot-7, offensive lineman D'Marcus Haralson has been playing on the defensive line.
This week's Friday Night Football Showdown will air during the 10 p.m. newscast on both WLOX-ABC and WLOX-CBS.
Besides Picayune-Wayne County, we'll have highlights from the Forrest County AHS-St. Stanislaus confrontation and Quitman at Vancleave.
