Vancleave upended Magee 19 to 14 in the second round of the 4A State Playoffs Friday night on the road.
Quarterback Terren Crowley exploded for 160 yards and scored two touchdowns in the victory.
Coach Jim Bloomfield's Bulldogs have won 5 of their last 6 games.
Bloomfield said,"Kids have worked hard. Have never given up and that's one reason why towards the end of the year we started jelling and getting better and better as a team and were able to get on a little run here. So we're taking it and taking it with our and go as far as we can. We'll see where it takes us."
Terren Crowley makes things happen. He's piled up 13-hundred-74 rushing yards with 18 touchdowns. The Senior has passed for 883 yards, adding four more touchdowns.
"I went to the Manning Passing Academy and I've gotten a lot of technique done and foot work," stated Crowley. "Foot work is the key."
Coach Bloomfield says Vancleave's offensive line has improved greatly and the presence of junior running backs Walter Williams and Marlon Warren takes pressure off Crowley. Williams has a thousand-9-yards rushing with 5 touchdowns and Warren has rushed for 471 yards and 7 TDs.
Williams said,"When you're this close you know you've got to execute to the best of your ability and we'll try to get that state ring.'
The fun continues Friday night as the Bulldogs tackle 9 and 4 Quitman in Vancleave.
