West Toledo residents wake up to smoke and flames in home

TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Two people were awakened by smoke and flames in their west Toledo home early Sunday morning.

Firefighters arrived to a home on the 2600 block of Cheltenham, near Christie, around 2:30 a.m., after reports of a fire in the downstairs portion of the home.

Two residents were sleeping upstairs at the time. Both of them made it out safely with minor injuries.

Crews were able to contain the fire to the lower level and put out the flames quickly.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
