Trojans putting "it all on the floor" at state cheer championships

LEESBURG, GA (WALB) -

Football isn't the only sport with teams competing for state titles. South Georgia cheerleading squads are on their way to Columbus for this weekend's state championships.

One of those teams is the Lee County Trojans.

Donna Jones' squad hopes to bring home their first state title in program history.

The Trojans have been one of the best teams in south Georgia for a number of years, but finally got back over the hump for a region title this season, their first in four years.

Now Lee is riding that momentum, hoping to check another goal off the list.

"One of our goals was to win region. We met that goal," says senior Hannah Walker. "Now that we've reached our goal, we just have to bring on the floor at state."

"They have worked diligently every single day at practice," says head coach Donna Jones. "You don't have to ask them to do anything. They come in and they work, and they just put it on the floor."

The state championships continue through Saturday in Columbus.
