Late night fire destroys Saucier home

SAUCIER, MS (WLOX) -

Harrison County Fire Chief Pat Sullivan said a structure fire off West Wortham Road, near Henry Harley Road, destroyed a vacant single story wood-frame home Thursday night.

The fire was called in just before 9 p.m. by a passer-by who witnessed the house fully engulfed.

"We had 6 units and 15 men," said Chief Sullivan. "They came from Lizana, Saucier, Woolmarket and Harrison County fire services. We did have some concerns about a trailer that was close to the house. We were able to keep the trailer from being damaged at all. We will be investigating the fire. We do not have a cause at this point."

It took the firefighters nearly 30 minutes to get the fire under control.
