PEARL, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Thousands of you are taking trips to Pearl Mississippi today to celebrate the states newest and largest outlet mall. The Outlets of Mississippi is not simply a shopping center, but it's helping to mark the Magnolia State as a prime target to do business.

It's amazing what a good discount will do to bring consumers out. The Outlets of Mississippi was pretty well packed before doors even opened up at 10:00 a.m. Shopper Delois Daniels said she found some good bargains on items 60 percent off.

Managers at Saks Fifth Avenue OFF FIFTH said if you want a discount, Saks Fifth Avenue OFF FIFTH, which is making its debut in the Magnolia State, is the place to go.

"We have 30 to 50 percent off the entire store so you can get almost up to 90 percent off on originally ticketed prices any day of the week," said Amber Cacali, the Vice President of Marketing for Saks Fifth Avenue OFF FIFTH.

"We're very thrilled about this we'll spend many hours here I'm thinking," said shopper Geneva Williamson.

Williamson and her shopping partner Deborah Ammann stopped in Saks Fifth Avenue OFF FIFTH first. Ammann said "we've gone all over the state to outlet malls; it's neat to have one right here."

The Outlets of Mississippi is not just a shopping center, but a major tourist attraction. More importantly it's a huge economic boost to the city of Pearl and the state of Mississippi. Governor Phil Bryant said the mall has created 1,600 new jobs and helps the state keep its distinction as a booming place for economic advancement.

"We are number 9 in America rated by area development magazine, number 9 in America for economic development not number 50 not number 35, number 9," said Governor Bryant.

Pearl Mayor Brad Rogers doesn't want anything to stop visitors from coming into his city's newest development. Mayor Rogers says traffic and parking may be a hassle, but there's room for everyone. Some alternative parking is available at Trustmark Park if you can't find a space at Outlets of Mississippi.

You can shop till you drop until 9:00 P.M. Thursday.
