BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - The WLOX 24-7 Weather Team is tracking a strong Arctic cold front that is making its way through South Mississippi this Tuesday evening. Though there is no rain associated with it, it is still expected to pack a powerful punch in the form of plummeting temperatures and brisk winds.
At one point Tuesday afternoon, temperatures had dropped about 10 degrees in only two hours. We expect this decline to continue through the overnight hours, bringing the coldest temperatures of the season thus far.
Along with the colder temperatures, windy conditions will make temperatures feel much colder than they actually are. While actual overnight low temperatures are expected to drop into the 30s along the coast and 20s in the interior; the feels-like temperatures will drop into the lower 20s across much of the region.
Freeze Warnings are in effect along and north of I-10 from 2 am through 9 am Wednesday morning. With the possibility of sub-freezing temperatures, any sensitive vegetation should be covered or brought indoors. Be sure to dress accordingly as you walk out the door Wednesday morning and tune in to WLOX News Tuesday evening and Good Morning Mississippi Wednesday morning for the most up-to-date information on the first Arctic cold front of the season.
