Christmas at Beauvoir lights up the holidays

BILOXI, MS (WLOX) -

The holiday season was in the air Thursday night as the second annual Christmas at Beauvoir kicked off with the festival of lights.

"Oh Merry Christmas and welcome to Beauvoir," said organizer Andi Oustalet.

Oustalet said it's never too early to celebrate the holidays.

"It's a magical event for our Coast. We are thrilled to death to provide this," said Oustalet.

"Finally, a Christmas holiday event that goes on for nine weekends that provides family entertainment."

That magic came to life as the lights on 150 oak trees were turned on by First Lady Deborah Bryant.

Music filled the air in all different forms.

A Jefferson Davis re-enactor even made an appearance at the historic home. With his wife on his arm, he said the event is remarkable.

"The people, wouldn't you say? And learning a little bit of history. History is so wonderful," said the Davis re-enactor.

That was something people of all ages appreciated.

"It brings the Christmas joy early to us. It's just wonderful. It's one of the best things the Coast has ever had," said Pass Christian couple Rusty and Jerry Trowbridge.

"Exciting, Happy," said 8-year-old Anna-Kate Ratcliffe.

"It is an amazing place," said Oustalet.

"It's a magical place. It's a historical place and it's wide open armed for everyone to come and enjoy this season."

For nine more weeks, there will be one message at this historic home.

"Merry Christmas!" said Ratcliffe.

"Merry Christmas to everyone," said the Davis re-enactor.
