Dispute between LHSAA, Parkway and Live Oak high schools continues

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

Last year, Live Oak High School football coach Barry Musemeche was handcuffed and escorted off the field during pre game of the Parkway High and Live Oak High football game. The principal of Parkway asked Musemeche and his team to leave the field so the school's band could play, but the coach said no.

Later, the Louisiana High School Athletic Association punished Parkway for the incident, stripping the schools chances to host a playoff game this season. State Senator Barrow Peacock of Bossier City, raised a protest, saying the athletic association is in the wrong.

"Right now, the state high school association is punishing the victim not the bully, and that's wrong. We are not setting an example to our students by doing what they are doing. And I am going to make calls, and tell them, they need to look at what they're doing. And look at what kind of example they are setting for our student athletes," said Peacock.

But, Musemeche said this situation has victimized not only him but the students.

"For somebody to have a victim or bully comment, I am really concerned. I would be interested to be able to speak with Senator Peacock and hope that he would understand our kids were victims. And what is he going to do for our kids not just Parkway kids- all of the kids," said Musemeche.

It was later brought to our attention that there was an appeal to lift the penalty against Parkway, but that was shot down.
